indypendenthistory:

On Sep 13, 1944, a princess from India lay dead at Dachau concentration camp. She had been tortured by the Nazis, then shot in the head. Her name was Noor Inayat Khan. The Germans knew her only as Nora Baker, a British spy who had gone into occupied France using the code name Madeline. She carried her transmitter from safe house to safe house with the Gestapo trailing her, providing communications for her Resistance unit.

Oh my God, yes. Let’s talk about Noor Inayat Khan.
Wireless operators in France had a life expectancy of six weeks. Noor was actively transmitting for over three times as long.
While she was in France, every other wireless operator in her network was slowly picked off until she was the last radio link between London and Paris. It was “the most dangerous and important post in France”.
She was offered a way back to Britain and refused.
In fact, in her transmissions to London, she once said that she was having the time of her life, and thanked them for giving her the opportunity to do this.
She was captured by the Gestapo, but never gave up: she made three attempt escapes. One involved asking to take a bath, insisting on being allowed to close the door to preserve her modesty, and then clambering onto the roof of the Gestapo HQ in Paris.
Her last word before being shot was, “Liberté!”

The term BAMF was coined for such persons.

Her entire life, and her mother’s life as well, are FASCINATING. A Royal, Muslim, Anglo-Indian woman in WWII… Could we have a sweeping FACTUAL movie please. Like now?

Yet another story I would like to read.

John Oliver explains why we should all be very excited for the World Cup. And why we should also hate FIFA with every ounce of hatred we can collectively muster.

Hey, non-brazilian followers, here’s a fairly good explanation of what’s going on around here. Please don’t support Fifa in any way. Ever.

One thing he didn’t say: there are some cities in which areas around the stadiums have, “for security reasons”, been declared “FIFA areas”. That means that during the Cup there’ll be days in which we won’t have the right to go there. There are parts of our cities that have been forbidden to us by a sports organization. If you live in a “FIFA area”, you have to fucking register your name in order to be allowed to go home. I have an elderly great-aunt in this situation. If during one of the forbidden hours she happens to get ill or suffer a fall or any of those things that made it really hard for elderly people to be alone, she will have to go stay someplace else, because no relatives will be allowed to stay with her at her home, or even go pick her up with a car.

Also, people who sell products in those areas are forbidden to work on game days, because FIFA will be selling their own products and won’t allow competition.

The internet changed the outernet. Removing the anti-homeless spikes

I think it was radical Black and Asian socialists using direct action in their neighborhoods/cities that changed this.
London Black Revolutionaries claim responsibility for pouring concrete on anti-homeless spikes
Don’t let the media hide the fact that this was direct action by the dispossessed (in this case working class Black and Asian, mainly immigrants, people in England) fighting for other dispossessed people.

I’m so impressed by girls who can put together a really cute outfit and do their hair and makeup really nice every single day like if I manage to shower and eat breakfast it’s a damn victory

That’s okay; sometimes we only have enough energy left  to eat breakfast.  We just look put together while we eat.  It’s still a damn victory.

2 Questions:

1. Where is the outrage from mainstream feminism?

2. Where are the supposed pro-lifers?

*I don’t actually need responses to these questions, cause I already know the answers.

Bolded.

I feel sick.

Not 150 years ago. Not fifteen years ago.
Not fifteen months ago.
LAST. YEAR.

And not a word from mainstream white feminists

But hey, it’s regarding jailed WOC so it’s not their concern, right?

This makes me so fucking angry, I can’t even process the information. I just… ugh. I’m gonna go punch a wall or a police officer or something.

Here’s an article about it for those for whom text works better than a video.
